Editorial: A Week with the Google Chromebook Series 3

Editorial: A Week with the Google Chromebook Series 3

If you have been considering purchasing a Google Chromebook, I bought one a week or so ago. After extensive use of my new machine and drawing up its key features, here is my review of Google’s latest Series 3 Chromebook released in late October from a users perspective. When I heard that Google had launched a brand new Chromebook starting at £229 I simply had to buy one. I’m an admitted consumer tech junkie, and when a gadget comes up at an unbelievable price, I simply have to buy it. The Chromebook in question is the Samsung Chromebook Series … Continue reading

Ultrabooks with a Touch Screen, what are your options?

Ultrabooks with a Touch Screen, what are your options?

The computing world is on the precipice of change, the timely exit of the long serving and widely enjoyed Windows 7 signals a sea change not only in software, but for the first time in a long time, hardware. Windows 8 does away with the iconic start menu in place for a fancy new touch friendly launch screen in the style of Windows Phone 7/8, leading PC manufacturers to seek out new input methods for use with the new OS, namely touch screens. Samsung show off Series 9 prototype with 2,560 x 1,440 display at IFA

Around these parts, Samsung’s Series 9 Ultrabook gets its a fair share of praise. We’re big fans of it’s impressively slim design, great keyboard and excellent construction, hell, we’re not even upset with its 13″ screen, whose resolution currently sits at 1,600 x 900. Alas, Samsung has never heard of the old adage “Don’t mess with a good thing” and has thrown one incredible glimpse into the future of the laptop at us in the form of a prototype display with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 – that’s a DPI of 220. Even more so, they’ve mercifully covered the … Continue reading

Samsung Announces Series 5 Ultra Touch Ultrabook, Coming October

Samsung Announces Series 5 Ultra Touch Ultrabook, Coming October

Samsung have announced a brand new update to their Series 5 Ultrabooks for 2012 in the name of the Series 5 ‘Ultra Touch’ range. I am late to this one, I will admit it. There have been so many super cool releases over at the IFA in Berlin that whilst I knew full well Samsung had updated its Series 5 range I did not get around to writing about it. To make up for that then here you go; Samsung have announced a touch screen update to its already awesome Ultrabook, and I really like the look of it. Here … Continue reading
